First Discovery in Gas -Hydrate

The cooperation on gas hydrate was carried out between China Geological Survey and IFM-GEOMAR in Germany . First sample of active Cold Vent of gas hydrate has been obtained during the real site survey in the South China Sea by Sino-German Geoscientists on the Germany research vessel Sonne. Through tested, the sample is proved to be the crest of the huge Carbonate rock of the Cold Vent of gas hydrate, which was previously developed in as early as 46.7 thousand years before and is still releasing gas of methane. The Carbonate Incrustation is thought to be the typical characteristic of gas hydrate existence and the important body sample in public. The area of the Carbonate Rock in the new discovery is up to 430 square kilometers and has been the biggest Cold-Vent-origin ones ever since.
