Tianjin Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources (North China Center), directly under the China Geological Survey, is mainly responsible for managing the projects of geoscience surveys in northeast China, for organizing and conducting the regional, basic geoscience surveys and research, and the investigations and assessments of strategically mineral resources potential, and the resources development and utilization.

　　The Institute has formed its own characteristics and superiority in the research of Precambrian geology, Quatemary geology, and assessments of mineral resources potential in north China, as well as the research of water resource and environmental geology.
