Shenyang Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources (Northeast Center), directly under the China Geological Survey, is mainly responsible for managing the projects of geoscience surveys in northeast China, for organizing and conducting the regional, basic geoscience surveys and research, and the investigations and assessments of strategically mineral resources potential.

　　The Institute mainly specializes in the research of nationwide precious metallic geology, continental margin geology of the eastern China, hydrogeology, environmental geology, hazard geology and agricultural geology in northeast China.
