The National Geological Library of China (NGLC)which was established in 1916, directly under the China Geological Survey, is the premier geoscience library in China. It serves the needs of geoscience information throughout the nation, and provides holdings of world-wide coverage in the earth sciences.

　　Through purchase and long-standing exchange agreements with 400 overseas organizations, an extensive collection system of earth sciences materials has been developed. The Library's collection now contains 650,000 volumes of books and journals, including 6,500 serial titles, of which approximately 2,000 are current.

　　Literature searches can be conducted on a variety of databases, with more than 10 million references, on NGLC's web-site, and output can be provided in digital or hard-copy format.

　　Abstracts of Chinese Geology(both in English and in Chinese) are published by NGLC and the Bibliographic Database of Chinese Geology is produced and provided.

　　Library and information science studies and studies on the history of geological sciences have been enhanced in NGLC in recent years, and the results are attracting the attentions of the related fields.
