Aero Geophysical Survey And
Remote Sensing Center (AGRS), under the China Geology
Survey (CGS), is mainly engaged in application, research and development
of airborne geophysical exploration and remote sensing technology,
and conducts the basic, strategic and public geological investigations.
AGRS owns 4 Twin Otter and 2 Y-12 aircrafts equipped with the
advanced airborne geophysical exploration system, the aero-photographic
system and the multi-spectrum scanner system. AGRS can carry out
various investigations in any area and terrain including medium
and high mountain areas, deserts, lakes, marshlands and sea areas
in China and abroad.
AGRS has completed the airborne geophysical exploration that
covered 9,300,000 km2 of inland and 2,300,000 km2 of offshore
in China. Over 140 large and medium-sized mineral deposits have
been discovered and over 2800 oil-bearing structures delineated.
Many great results have been obtained in geological structure
study, mineral reconnaissance, oil and gas exploration.
3 million km2 in China have been covered by airborne remote
sensing survey. Great amount of important results have been obtained
in the comprehensive investigations of over 100large and medium-sized
cities, islands, water depth, geological hazards and environment;
and in the geological stability evaluation for the key projects
and the area along the highways; as well as in the monitoring
for forest fire, flood, land-slide, coal-bed fire and other natural
hazards.
